‘As fair art thou my bonnie lass, so deep in love am I: And I will love thee still my dear, till a’ the seas gang dry…’

Robbie Burns lauds the value and longevity of love in his popular poem. I’m not sure any of these inks will last that long but they are very good, particularly on a day like today… Happy Valentines day everyone!

Noodler’s Qi Shi Huang: Something out of the ordinary to begin with. This is a really distinctive ink this is definitely worth some consideration. Glows under black light too. You can find my review here.

Diamine Red Dragon: One of my all time favourites. Full-bodied and robust, like a good glass of Port should be in the evening, I just keep forgetting to review it properly. My bad.

Kaweco Ruby Red: A deep red that will set your pulse racing I wholeheartedly recommend this top class ink as part of your essential ink list. You can check out my earlier review here.

J Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite: Originally a special edition produced to celebrate the 340th anniversary of the J Herbin marque. According to the accompanying leaflet the colour was designed to evoke memories of sealing wax used by members of the royal court and the colour of the historic J Herbin logo. I love it, probably now my most used red ink with a stunning golden sheen. Early review here.

Diamine 1864 Carnival: Wonderfully wet and juicy this is a vivacious red ink. I really liked most if not all of this Diamine special commemorative series from the wedge-shaped bottle to the eight great colours. Looking back, here’s my review.

Pilot Iroshizuku Momiji: A fine and complex ink that is great to look at and brilliant to use. Pilot Iroshizuku Momiji is one of those special occasion inks that I look forward to using. a lovely golden sheen appears with this one too. Check out my review.

Diamine Matador: You can tell I’m getting on. Another ink that has been in my collection for a long while but as yet no real review. You can check out a short comparison post here. A great red…

Diamine Crimson: Last but by no means least no red collection would be complete without a Crimson. Here is the Diamine version. Perhaps an ink that’s overshadowed by some of its stalemates but lovely nonetheless. Note to self, another to review…

Hope that you’ve enjoyed my Valentine’s Day selection. What would you pick? Let me know.

Foolishly Yours
